Sir,
C.
4, MILLBANK,
LONDON, S.W.1.
15th June 1938.
I have the honour to refer to your letter No.53879/38
of the 19th January transmitting copy of a despatch from the
Governor of Hong Kong regarding a defect in the Pineapple Pass
Dam of the Jubilee Reservoir, Shing Mun.
2.
Reference is made in the last paragraph of the
Governor's despatch of the 1st December to the further report
which it was anticipated Mr.Binnie would submit. We recently
asked Messrs.Binnie,Deacon & Gourley if a second report had
been prepared and we now enclose a copy of a letter dated
13th June which we have received from them wherein they state
that no further report has been sent to Hong Kong. Their
letter gives, however, the latest information regarding the
defect and describes the exploratory work which has been
undertaken to discover the source and extent of the leakage.
A copy of their letter has been forwarded by the Consulting
Engineers to the Director of Public Works, Hong Kong.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
&Jamone
for Crown Agents.
The Under Secretary of State,
Colonial Office,
S.W. 1.
